Women's Dinner 2025

The Committee is pleased to announce that on Wednesday 6 August 2025 the Society will be hosting its annual Women's Dinner at Lotus Restaurant, The Galeries, Sydney. We request that guests arrive at 6.00pm for a 6.30pm commencement.

Our special guests this year are:

  • The Hon. Justice Judy Ryan (former Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia); and
  • Emilija Beljic (Barrister, Wardell Chambers).

Join members and supporters for an intimate dinner and discussion with these exceptional talents, who have broken boundaries in the law.

The Women's Dinner is a female only event.

Junior Ticket (Associates, Lawyers, Law Graduates, CLC Lawyers, Industrial Officers and Union Lawyers): $110

Emerging Ticket (Paralegals, Students and Law Clerks): $80

About the Speakers

The Honourable Judy Ryan was a judge of the Appeal Division of the Family Court of Australia (2012-2021). She was an inaugural appointee to the Federal Magistrates Court (now Federal Circuit and Family Court Div 2) in 2000 and was appointed to the Family Court of Australia in July 2006. Prior to her appointment to the Federal Magistrates Court, Justice Ryan was the Director of the Family Law Division at Legal Aid NSW. As well as family law, in her time at Legal Aid Justice Ryan worked in Migration and Mental Health jurisdictions. Justice Ryan managed the Family Court’s court to court relationships with countries in the Indo Pacific and continues to work closely with Indonesia and the Australia Indonesia Partnership for Justice, Malaysia and Fiji in their justice programs. 

Emilija Beljic is a barrister practising from Wardell Chambers. She was called to the Bar in 2021. Her principle areas of practice include criminal law, inquests and inquiries, regulatory and public law. Emilija has appeared in numerous jury and judge-alone trials across the Supreme and District Courts of NSW and the ACT, including complex cases such as murder trials, regulatory prosecutions, bail applications, appellate proceedings, and sentencing matters. At the last federal election, Emilija also stood as a candidate on the NSW Senate ticket.
