The Wran-Walker/Dunstan-Duncan era (1975-1983) was a pivotal period in Australian legal and political history. Much of the law reform of this period was only achieved after bitter opposition.
Many reforms survive and some need enhancement. Others need to be revived.
Frank Walker QC MP (1942-2012) was NSW Attorney General, Minister for Justice, Aboriginal Affairs, Youth & Community Services, Housing and Arts. He was also Commonwealth Minister for Administrative Services, and Judge of the NSW Workers Compensation Commission, the Dust Diseases Tribunal and the District Court.
His Honour Judge Greg Woods QC Ll.D was a senior legal advisor to both NSW Attorney-General Frank Walker and South Australian Attorney-General Peter Duncan. He is the author of “A History of Criminal Law in New South Wales” (Federation Press, 2002) and a serving judge of the NSW District Court.
